Relax& UNWIND

Les Sauterelles (The Grasshoppers) is a beautifully renovated farmhouse and barn set in the idyllic Dordogne countryside.  A chance to get away from all the pressures of life and relax with your family and friends.

Once this unpretentious farm was owned by a local french abbey, now it’s owned by an english vicar, Dan and his wife, Carrie.  Located on the edge of the Dordogne/Charente border in a tranquil little hamlet, far enough away from the madding (tourist) crowds to avoid them completely if desired, yet close enough to enjoy a little foray into the bustle for a day trip!

We have worked hard to make our home a place for people to relax and switch off, a retreat from the busyness of everyday life.  A time when you can get away from it all, rather than bring it all with you.  After all, who wants to travel all the way to France and stay inside glued to a screen?  Instead you can sit outside in the garden, in the middle of peaceful french countryside and listen to the sound of the grasshoppers as the sun goes down, glass in hand, appreciating the best of life.  That’s a holiday!

Simple but stylish, the decor lacks nothing yet retains its rustic charm.  Recently renovated, this traditional 19th century Charentese farmhouse and barn have been beautifully converted to provide fresh, light and spacious accommodation.  Once a single family of 8 slept in the rafter now it is perfect for two families to share in an infinitely more comfortable fashion.  With a impressive stone fireplace and oak beams, Les Sauterelles retains the old character whilst indulging in modern comforts. It combines the best of British with the best of the French, from Sanderson to Toile, from Le Creuset to Spode and much much more.

We want you to be able to arrive, unpack, pop the kettle on (or pour out a glass of vin), sit down and feel completely at home...except without all of the jobs you remember you need to do when you are at home!
